Once upon a time . . . . .
. . . . there were two young people who met at a sail loft were they both worked. They sewed together, sailed together and eventually got married and started a family. From the beginning and continuing through the years they developed a dream that they would take a step away from mainstream life and spend some time on a boat.
Fast forward about 15 years . . . . we still hold tight to the dream, but on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, there was champagne at lunch because Brad and PJ (Bryce and Austin, too - well not the champagne part) took a momentous step towards making the dream a reality with the closing on the purchase of "Capaz".
Those who know us, have heard us proclaim that when the opportunity arose, we would be pouncing on it. Well, pounce we have! In February, after a step back in looking at where our family's lives were, we decided that we should set a date and start looking seriously at boat options so that we could be taking real steps towards cruising. The date upon which we decided is August of 2009. Shortly after making this decision, it became clear that a our most serious prospective boat (Capaz) would indeed be available soon (thinking that meant this summer, we started lining up all the details that go into this kind of purchase). Then, it all happened the first of April and we decided we had better go for it and make it happen rather kick ourselves for missing our golden opportunity just because it was coming a few months earlier than we had planned. There were so many people pulling for us to have success that we are pretty confident that we are on the path towards our destiny! Thank you to each and every one of you who had a hand in our boat purchase.
Here's a little taste of the S/V Capaz:
